Short answer

Custom makeup boxes are small printed cartons or rigid kit boxes sized to the finished component. Every structure starts from 500 pieces per design, so the number of printed designs drives the plan.

Plan makeup boxes around shades and designs

A makeup line multiplies designs: every shade can mean another print run. Decide which products need their own printed box and which can share one design, then size each box to the finished component with its cap.

Small folding cartonLipsticks, mascara, eyeliner, foundation and compacts. From 500 pieces per design. Check the barcode, shade-name space and a snug fit.
Rigid lift-off or magnetic boxPalettes, premium products and PR or influencer kits. From 500 pieces per design. Plan the insert for every piece in the kit.

Fit and approval

Shade, fit and barcode checks before sample approval

Review the physical sample with the intended product before releasing bulk production.

  • Decide the shade approach: one shared carton with a shade label added at packing can cover a whole line, while hero shades can get their own printed box.
  • Fix the shade name and barcode space: small cartons leave little room, so set the position and size of the shade name and barcode before artwork is locked, and check the barcode scans at that size.
  • Size to the finished component: measure with the cap on. A carton slightly too loose lets the product rattle in the pack.
  • Check fine finishing on the sample: thin foil lines and tiny embossed logos can close up at small sizes.
  • Pack a real kit: for PR sets, fit every product, close the box and pack it in its mailer before approving.
Quote planning

What changes the price of makeup boxes?

Start with the box type, quantity and email. Add component sizes with caps, the number of shades or designs and quantity per design, the destination and any finishes. Artwork can follow once the structure is agreed.

Decision pointPractical guidanceImpact
Number of printed designsMinimums apply per design, so many shades printed separately multiply the minimum.Share one structure and print only where it pays.
Carton or rigid structureSmall cartons are cheapest at volume; rigid boxes suit sets but cost more per unit.Use rigid boxes for sets and hero products, cartons for the range.
Insert and kit layoutA kit needs a cavity per product; more slots mean more insert work.Send every product in the kit so each slot is cut to fit.
Finishes on small formatsFoil, embossing and soft-touch add steps, and fine detail may not reproduce at small sizes.Check detail on the sample before approving the run.

FAQ

Custom Makeup Packaging questions

Use these answers when comparing custom packaging suppliers.

What is the MOQ for custom makeup boxes?

All structures start from 500 pieces per design.

How do I handle a line with many shades?

Minimums apply per design, so one printed carton per shade multiplies the minimum. Many brands use one shared carton and add a shade label when packing; otherwise ask in your quote request whether shade versions can be combined.

Do you make the lipstick tubes, palettes or mascara components?

No. PackClarity supplies the outer boxes, tubes and inserts that hold them. Send the finished component or its drawing so the box and insert are sized to it.

Can you make boxes for PR and influencer kits?

Yes, as rigid, magnetic or drawer boxes with an insert cut for every piece. Plan the run size, because rigid boxes start from 500 pieces per design.

How long do samples and production take?

About 7 days for samples after the dieline and artwork are confirmed, and about 20 days for bulk production after sample approval. Door-to-door delivery is typically 30-40 days from order.
